Sitting can be HARD on our bodies.

Sitting can be HARD on our bodies. We just weren’t designed to sit all day. Sitting puts a lot of pressure on the discs of your lower back.

An analysis of 13 studies of sitting time and activity levels found that those who sat for more than eight hours a day with no physical activity had a risk of dying similar to the risks of dying posed by obesity and smoking.

If you have to sit all day, there are things you can do to prevent health problems.

1) Make sure you’re getting exercise at other times during the day!

2) Take breaks! Every 30 minutes is ideal.

3) Standing desks, and even treadmill desks, are increasingly popular and cheaper, and a great idea for many people.

4) Sitting on a ball or ball chair is a way to ease your lower back – there’s less pressure on the low back and you end up using core muscles to stay upright. We carry inflatable discs to sit on that give some of this benefit as well.
